The City of Topeka Public Works and its street design team will showcase
the design for the 12th Street Project during a Public Open House scheduled
from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, November 21, at the Topeka and Shawnee County
Public Library in the Rotunda and Room 101C. The City has reserved the open
house space at the library from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. but the actual event time
is from 6 to 7 p.m. This will allow the design team to set up and take down
displays, etc. However, someone will be around to answer questions before
and after the event time if you can’t make it between 6 and 7. There will
not be a formal presentation. Instead, attendees will have an opportunity
to review design plans, see displays about the history of and changes to
12th Street, and watch a short conceptual fly-through of what 12th Street
will look like when finished. Go to www.topeka.org/12th for more
information about the project, including some Public Contributions that
were added to the design following the initial public meeting. This project
will be constructed in three phases between 2021 and 2023. Utility
companies will begin relocating their infrastructure in 2020.
