Students receive a profile detailing their life at age 26, including their profession, salary, family status, and more. They use this information to navigate through stations representing all the expenses they must account for in a month, such as housing, transportation, child care, groceries, etc. Volunteers are positioned at each station to help students determine what they owe and help them with their budget. Students leave the event with a better understanding of creating and balancing a budget. The success and lasting impact of these events depend on volunteers like you. If your address with KanCare is not up to date, you may not receive the renewal letter and could lose Medicaid or CHIP coverage even if you are still eligible. Here are the two steps that all KanCare members need to take: 1. Update your address and contact information with KanCare by calling 1-800-792-4884 or by going to KanCare.ks.gov and clicking the red chat icon in the lower right corner of the screen. You can learn how to find and use the chat option with this How-To video . 2. Watch your mail and respond to notices from KanCare as quickly as possible. Renewals will occur at different times of the year for each household, so check your mail often and respond right away. Children are especially at risk of losing coverage they are still eligible for because their parents or guardians do not take the above actions in time. If you work with children who are on CHIP, please contact their parents or guardians about Medicaid renewals. To receive updates on how you can help families across Kansas, join the Helper Network here . If you are found ineligible for KanCare, you can talk to a Navigator for free and learn more about potential coverage options. Call toll-free 866-826-8375 or go to GetCoveredKansas.org . It's time again for our CHNA meeting and it's tomorrow! Please plan to attend. If you are unable to attend, but have a questions or comments, please share with your CHNA board members. We hope to see you tomorrow night. Attached, please find the meeting agenda and treasurer's report - and the minutes from the January meeting. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the CH Chili Cookoff in February. We had a marvelous turnout, and it was so nice to visit with neighbors. Have you seen the beautiful gazebo in Boswell Park? At this meeting, we plan to discuss a gazebo grand opening party in the park. Fourth of July is approaching - Let's talk about changing the parade route. We have a serious issue with the fees to rent the barricades to run the parade along College and Jewell. We're considering all ideas to save $$ on barricade rental and we're seriously in need of volunteers to help on July 4. If you have any thoughts on this, or would be willing to help, please let us know. We're also looking for a few new officers for the CHNA Board. Term starts in September. If you are interested in a position in serving the best neighborhood in Topeka, let us know. Mark your calendars for our upcoming events: April 1 - Recycling Saturday April 8 - Easter egg hunt at Boswell Park - sponsored by Westminster Presbyterian Church April 20 - Night out on Boswell - hosted by Blooms on Boswell - featuring food trucks and fabulous shopping. April 29 - 8-11 a.m. - CHNA Fundraiser - Blossoms Plant Sale, silent auction and delicious breakfast at Westminster Presbyterian April 29 - Topeka High School Prom Thank you for all you do for College Hill!
