Please join us for Child Care and Early Education Advocacy Day at the
Capitol! This year join PAT families and other early childhood advocates
for a Read-in in the rotunda of the Capitol.

We want to show lawmakers that families value Early Childhood programs!

   - Representatives prefer to hear directly from their constituents. There
   is a quick and easy way to locate your rep along with all of their

   legislators. One is ready for a little person to color and for you to
   write a few reasons PAT is important your family. You can send as many

   - Send a book to support the book drive. Help transform the statehouse
   rotunda into an early childhood reading space for Advocacy Day. Send a book

   - Join the Topeka PAT Advisory Board and Kansas Parents as Teachers
   Association (KPATA) March 22, 2023 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Beacon for a
   Advocacy event with KS legislators. More information will follow.
   - After identifying who your legislators are, you can find their contact
   information directly on the site. Emails are wonderful, but a phone call
   makes a huge impact. It is best to set an appointment so that you can be
   sure to speak directly to your legislator and not leave a message. You want
   to keep things short, to the point, and always polite-no matter how you
   feel about their politics.

wanted to reach out to you today to tell you how important Parents as
Teachers has been to me/my family. Then give 3-5 sentences of a personal

   - The pandemic has added many stressors to parenting and having my
   parent educator provide support, resources, and connection during a time of
   lots of isolation has been invaluable to my family.
   - Parents as Teachers has increased my knowledge of my child(ren)s
   development and how I can better prepare them for Kindergarten.
   - I know that investing in Parents as Teachers will ensure that more
   Kansas children are reading at grade level at 3rd grade.
   - When parents are provided information about age appropriate
   expectations of their children, we know there are less instances of child
   abuse and neglect.
   - The screenings that are done by PAT help catch developmental delays
   and health problems early so that interventions can be started quickly to
   reduce long term complications and better prepare children and parents for
   school readiness.
