Neighborhoods have shared information for our July safety information. As
always you can contact Judy at jwilson at parstopeka.org or call 266.4606 for
any concerns.

*Safety Information*

Neighborhoods have been experiencing mail theft. It has been suggested to
take any outgoing mail to the post office rather than putting out the mail
with the red flag up. People taking mail and altering the checks you might
have in that outgoing mail. Another suggestion was to go on USPS.com
<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fUSPS.com&c=E,1,PEQkYKU5tSiVHvy7cflQAbk_nU5TxxAhodRJ-aGYg1P_1L58Xpv4-bBMkNRJgJQ1qSbnTAur9MawKKm0Lw40YLdLz3vnPq1XMp5dZVvf7YqXf7YjrS8bhA,,&typo=1&ancr_add=1>
and click on Informed Delivery. The post office will send you an email
each day with a picture of the mail you will receive that day. If you do
not get your mail, you can call the post office.

Another issue that has been reported is that people may be leaving dollar
bills near a vehicle or under the windshield wipers. The bills have been
known to have fentanyl on them which can be deadly because it is a high
dose. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than
heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. It is a major contributor to
fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the U.S. If you find a bill on the ground
or on your car, don’t touch it and call law enforcement at 911.

If you would like to know more about Fentanyl, there is a meeting on
Wednesday, July 27 at 9 a.m. at the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden and
Venue, 63 SW Gage Blvd

at the Topeka Zoo. If you would like to attend, please email me at
jwilson at parstopeka.org.

*National Night Out*

National Night Out is still planned for August 6. Neighborhoods are
planning their events with 53 neighborhoods registered. It is not too late

Topeka Police Department, Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Shawnee County
District Attorney’s Office, Topeka Fire Department and Kansas Highway
Patrol support National Night Out every year.

*Resources*

neighborhoods - $50 for under 100 participants and $100 for more than 100
participants.
