U.S. 24 project begins Thursday in Topeka

A milling and overlay project on U.S. 24 in Topeka is scheduled to begin
Thursday, Aug. 25, weather permitting. The project spans less than half a
mile on U.S. 24 to the east and west of the N.W. Rochester Road/N.W. Tyler
Street intersection.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic will
encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 24, N.W. Rochester Road and
N.W. Tyler Street. Traffic signals at the intersection will continue to
operate as normal, and flaggers will also alert motorists to slow down in
the area.

Work will take place 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and Saturdays
as needed. There will be a speed reduction and 11-foot width restriction
through the work zone. Drivers should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes.

Superior Bowen Asphalt of Kansas City, Mo., is the contractor on the $1.7
million project, which is expected to be complete by late October.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when
