*Topeka, Kan.* – This week the Kansas Department of Health and Environment
(KDHE) authorized all COVID-19 vaccine providers in Kansas to begin
administering Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)

COVID-19 boosters in addition to Pfizer-BioNTech booster shots to eligible
individuals following the guidance received from the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) the same morning.



The following graph outlines the differences between each authorized
vaccine boost dose and the eligibility of each vaccine variety:

*Eligibility*

65 years of age and older; ages 18+ who live in long-term care; ages 18+
who have underlying health conditions; ages 18+ who work or live in
high-risk settings

All Recipients

*Time between primary series and booster*

At least 6 months

At least 6 months

At least 2 months

*Authorized Dosage*

0.3mL (Full Dose)

0.25mL (Half Dose)

0.5mL (Full Dose)



Individuals are encouraged to discuss with their medical provider any
questions surrounding their eligibility for a booster dose. However, a
letter or prescription from a qualified medical provider or a letter from a
workplace setting will *not* *be required*. Individuals are encouraged to
bring their CDC vaccination card as documentation of their primary vaccine
series; however, this is *not* *required*.



Individuals may receive *ANY* booster type, regardless of the primary
vaccine series received.



The Shawnee County Health Department (SCHD) continues to strongly encourage
residents to protect themselves by getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

Many opportunities to receive a COVID-19 vaccine continue to exist in our
community and can be found easily through the CDC’s Vaccine tool

The SCHD is offering COVID-19 vaccine boosters, in addition to other
vaccines, at their Clinical Services Division, located at 2115 SW 10

can call 785.251.5700 to schedule an appointment for the following hours:



*Monday, Thursday, Friday

Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and everyone entering the
building over the age of 2 is required to wear a mask.
