Hello!
This past Saturday's neighborhood recycling drive brought in
$115.00! Here
are the amounts we collected and were paid:

              Aluminum cans--219 lbs. @ 45 cents/lb.
                                                 $98.55
              Misc. metals ("Shred #3 Loose Metal")--220 lbs. @ 7.5
cents/lb. 16.50
              ATM rounding
                                                                   --.05
              *TOTAL
                                                                   $115.00*
Compared to our last (September) drive, we collected about 30 more pounds
of aluminum and were paid a little more for the aluminum and miscellaneous
metals (45 cents and 7.5 cents/pound, respectively, compared to 40 cents
and 6 cents/pound earlier). As a result, we earned $29 more this drive.
Since the neighborhood recycling drives began in September 1990,
our College Hill Association has received *$14.491.08* from recycling! We
are hopeful that we will pass the $15,000 mark in 2022!
We thank and appreciate VERY MUCH all the people who contributed their
recyclables (But we still would love to get more neighbors to
contribute). We were pleased that most recyclers are sorting their
materials the way we've been asked to do.
Many thanks also to the dear neighbor friends who helped to pick up and
deliver recyclables: Frank and Sarah Meadows; James, Hank, and Harley
Stamper; Cynthia Neufeld Smith; and John and Carol Christensen. We are
also grateful that Elizabeth Herbert, a former College Hill neighbor, again
let one of our teams of volunteers use her truck to pick up metals.
Our *next **recycling** drive will be Saturday, March 26*. Remember to
sort your materials. Cat food and tuna cans, aluminum pie plates, and
aluminum foil should be bagged with steel cans--not with aluminum beverage
cans. Also, since aluminum beverage cans bring in the greatest amount of
money from these drives, we ask that neighbors save them for College Hill.
We can also collect miscellaneous metals, such as copper and bronze, metal
piping, and wiring. If you need to get rid of aluminum cans or other
recyclables before our next drive please contact Carol Christensen at
785-554-8068 so items can be stored until then. Thank you!
