Please help us recycle properly in Shawnee County. Regardless of your
recycling service provider, here is what you can and cannot recycle in your
curbside containers. And please, do not bag your recyclables.

*Accepted*: Cardboard, Office Paper, Magazines, Junk Mail, Paper Sacks,
Cereal and Cracker Boxes, Aluminum and Tin cans, Clean Aluminum Foil,
Plastic Water Bottles, Plastic Buckets, Plastic Bottles & Tubs #1, #2, & #5.

*Not Accepted*: Plastic Grocery Bags, Pizza Boxes, Styrofoam of any Kind,
Paper Plates, Milk Cartons or Juice Boxes, Used Motor Oil Bottles, Anything
with Food Waste on it, Plastic #3, #4, #6, &#7, Anything Not on the List
Above, AND GLASS.

*GLASS* - Any glass that is placed in the recycling container does not get
recycled. It is processed out of the recycle stream and ends up in the
landfill. If you would like to recycle glass, please deposit your glass in
one of our purple glass containers. We are looking to add more glass
containers to make it more convenient to recycle glass. The current
locations for these are:

Wehner’s Thriftway – 551 E US Hwy 24 Traffic Way, Rossville, KS 66533

Household Hazardous Waste Facility – 131 NE 46th St, Topeka, KS 66617

Albert Neese Masonic Lodge – 5947 SE 45th St, Tecumseh, KS 66542-9538

District 2 SNCO Public Works Building – 1639 N Washington Street, Auburn,
KS 66542

Lowes – 1621 SW Arvonia Pl, Topeka KS 66615

Please remember, curbside recycling is a free service that Shawnee County
Solid Waste offers to their customers. If you would like to opt out of the
recycling program, please call 233-4774 to arrange to have your container
picked up. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at
solidwaste at snco.us
