College Hill needs your help. The National Night Out Against Crime has been
set for August 11th. This year we are needing a volunteer or more to plan
and organize the College Hill NNO in Boswell Park. This is not a difficult
event to plan but does require some time. There are Safe Streets planning
sessions, preparing for the event, and of course set up and clean up on the
day of the event. Safe Streets does provide an information packet and
several other helpful items. The volunteers will also have the support and
past experience of myself and others that have planned this very important
event.


If you are interested in helping plan or taking the lead on this amazing
community event please contact me at president at collegehilltopeka.org or

The first planning meeting is April 18th. Please consider volunteering to
make your neighborhood better.

The National Weather Service in Topeka will conduct a *Tornado Drill @ 10am
Tuesday, March 6.*



*Everyone is encouraged to participate* in the drill by practicing seeking
secure, safe shelter from a tornado.



This test will be broadcast over NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio and many
local television and radio stations.

Local officials may also sound their warning sirens. Area residents,
businesses, and schools are urged to treat the drill as if it were an
actual tornado warning

Monday, March 19, 2018.  We will have a guest from Keep America Beautiful
and we will discuss College Hill?s participation in the National Night Out
against crime in August of 2018.  At this time we are in need of several
volunteers to plan, coordinate, pick up items, and staff the NNO.  The
first planning meeting with Safe Streets is April 18th.  If you are
interested in ensuring we participate in the National Night Out this year
please join us for the neighborhood association meeting tomorrow.  Thank
you and we hope to see you tomorrow night at 7 pm at Westminster
Presbyterian Church.

offer #theIMPACT on April 14 at 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club, 550 SE
27th Street.

This *FREE* event is for kids ages 10+ and their parents/caregivers. The
Mighty Seaman Players from Seaman High School will recreate realistic
scenes portraying substance use and the consequences.

*Topeka Metro Celebrates Local Volunteers *

In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, Topeka Metro will celebrate
local volunteers by offering free rides April 6 through April 11.

Volunteers will receive unlimited free rides on the fixed routes and Lift
passengers will receive up to two free rides per day.

Volunteers must present a volunteer photo ID to the bus operator upon
boarding.

If a photo ID is not available, passengers may present a letter
acknowledging their volunteer service along with an alternate photo ID upon
boarding.

The letter must be on company letterhead and signed by a company official.

?Volunteers are the lifeblood of many agencies in Topeka. We want to honor
those who donate their time and effort to volunteer to help others in our
community,? said Topeka Metro General Manager Susan Duffy.

So, hop on the bus and take a FREE ride on Topeka Metro the week of April
