It?s decorative gourd season!! It?s also time to show how thankful we are
that we get to ride bikes? by giving back to the community!

Test your mettle against Top City?s finest in a timed contest to collect
the most food from the most places to benefit a local food pantry, OR, Join
the group ride called ?THE HAUL,? where everyone will ride together to
collect as much food as possible.

*IF YOU WOULD LIKE to participate but do not wish to race, please consider
contributing to the event by making a food donation for the HAUL, by making
a cash pledge to help cover food purchases, or by donating modest prize
items for winning competitors.*

Topeka Bible church and Topeka Turn Around Team will sponsor a free? Harvester Food Pantry at the Shawnee County Expo Centre Tuesday November 14 at 9:00 a.m .Sputh Parking Lot
No ID required.? It is? first come first serve .? We hope people will take advantage of the food pantry.? We will continue each second Tuesday through the winter.
Volunteer are always needed and welcome.? Should arrive about 8:15 a.m.

The Center for Safety and Empowerment at YWCA is preparing for the Holiday
Season and you can help! On 11-18-17, bicyclists will be riding through the
neighborhood from 2-4 pm to haul away your non-perishable food donations
and other items. Please see the attached Wish List for non-food items being
accepted.

Happy Thanksgiving Neighbors,

As you visit with family and friends keep in mind these safety tips for a
happy and healthy holiday season.

When you head outside to clean up the falling leaves avoid injuries by
following these rules:

1. Warm up - stretching ahead of yard work helps prepare your body.
2. Use the proper tools including gloves.
3. Turn it into a work out - use your knees to lift the leaves rather than
your back and avoid twisting.
4. Switch it up - use your less favored side to avoid muscle fatigue.
5. Pace yourself - take regular breaks and enjoy our beautiful neighborhood!

Shawnee County offers one large item pick up per week free of charge.  This
includes 15 bags of leaves at no more than 45 pounds per bag.  Be sure to
bag or mulch those leaves so they don't blow into your neighbor's yards.
