[College Hill Topeka] Notification about 1262 SW Garfield

I was recently notified, as well as property owners within 500 feet,  by
the City of Topeka that a demolition permit has been submitted for 1262 SW
Garfield Avenue.  A 30-day waiting period has been triggered.  The purpose
of the waiting period is to provide the public and the property owner of a
non-registered historic property the opportunity seek alternative options
to demolition.  The home is considered part of the potential historic
district, determined in the recent College Hill Historic Survey.  It is
from the early 20th Century and would be listed as a contributor to the
historic integrity of College Hill.  The home is in need of repair
including paint and updates to the roof.


The waiting period expires at Noon on June 12th.  If the permit hasn’t been
withdrawn by the property owner, then the permit will be approved.
