As a reminder the next quarterly College Hill recycling drive is Saturday,
December 9th.  We'll take any kind of metal (aluminum and steel cans, old
aluminum storm doors, old plumbing fixtures and pipes, etc.) Please place
them on your porch in the morning. Be sure to save those cans over the
holiday! To arrange a special pick up or to ask questions, please call
Carol Christensen at (785) 357-1437.


The neighborhood really appreciates your participation in this fundraiser.

Greetings Neighborhood Leaders,



The City of Topeka Utilities Department will be holding a public meeting
Saturday, December 9th at 9:00 a.m. in the Holliday Building on 620 SE
Madison St. The meeting will be to discuss the condition of the utility
infrastructure and the need for utility rate increases. The infrastructure
is aging and needs upgrades in order to provide the best level of service
to the citizens of Topeka. We would like community input on utility assets
and to discuss the needs of our water infrastructure.



The city is requesting a 6% increase for 2018 a 5% increase for 2019 and a
5% increase for 2020 for water, wastewater and stormwater rates. The last
utility rate increase was passed by the City Council in 2015. 2017 is the
last year of the rate increases approved at that time. For the average
resident using five thousand gallons a month the total utility rate
increase would be $4.10 cents a month for the combined total increase in
water, wastewater and storm water usage. Most of the fee increase will go
towards upgrading infrastructure.

It is a no ID or income requirements.? Parking in the Shawnee County Expo Centre south parking lot.? ?1st. come 1st serve. About 30 thousand lbs of fresh food each month.??
This is a neighbors helping neighbors project and appreciate people who receive food and all volunteers.
Volunteers are always welcome and should arrive about 8:15 a.m.? We will continue with the food pantry each month? second Tuesday through the winter months.This mobil food pantry is sponsored by Harvester, TopekaTurnAround Team and Topeka Bible Church

Topeka Metro, Capitol City Taxi, and the Joint Economic Development
Organization (JEDO) have partnered to provide affordable rides to work for
employees at 6 companies in South Topeka. Beginning Friday, December 15,
2017, employees of Frito Lay, Bimbo Bakeries, Home Depot, Target, Maximus,
and Mars can call Capitol City Taxi to schedule 1-way rides to or from work
for $5. Rides *to work* must be booked at least 12 hours in advance, but
return rides home can be requested on-demand to provide flexibility if your
workday is longer than anticipated. Standing trips may be reserved if you
travel to work at the same time every day.



Passengers must show their associate ID from one of the six listed
businesses above, and only cash will be accepted. Capitol City Taxi will
wait 5 minutes from the scheduled pick-up time before reporting a ?No
Show.? A pattern of No Shows may result in the passenger not being able to
use the service.
